Fuel Question

Hey guys just lookin for a little help here, i was driving the other day and when my 4.2 got to a 1/4 of a tank it started to idle very very hard.... so just for grins i pulled into the gas station and filled it up BOOM no rough idle...... Is this a sighn of a problem to come or is there something easy that im over looking? I had a little hesitation before and was thinking about replacing the fuel pump but i wasnt sure if that would solve the problem or not. thanxs guys

If you are running a stock truck, your engine is designed for 87 octane, so stick with that. As far as what is causing the shuddering? I have no idea, especially since its only at 1/4 tank...

The pump probably costs a lot...I had to buy one for my 95 V6 Explorer and it was $75 and O'Reilly's.
