72 F350 Dump Body Exhaust

Hello FTE Crew! I am new to your forum and am sure you guys will be of much help. I recently purchased the above mentioned 1 ton and my first refurb will be the exhaust system. Can any of you provide some useful links for replacement parts for the vehicle? Is the VIN important to nail down the exhaust sys with the truck. An Advanced auto CRT jockey showed me a system that looked nothing like I've got! Thanks alot...

Not sure what you're asking? Most of us just run true dual exhaust with high flow mufflers.

If you're looking to make it an all original restoration, I'm sure somebody will check in with there input. Most of these trucks ran a single exhaust exiting behind the rear tire on the passenger side.

You probably have and FE Motor (360,390,428), but could also have a (429,460) motor (other options as well depending on what previous owners did). Try to determine the motor first, that will help.

Thx for the reply gtex,

The engine on this truck is a 360 cid V8. The fellow I got it from claimed the exhaust exited out the passenger side about mid frame. Must have been a poor mans fix to avoid buying the correct and longer tailpipe. Any links that you have found that will provide tech/part/vehicle info would be of great help to me.

Our resident almanac of F Series information, I belive goes by the username BB.

Maybe he'll check in shortly.

If you can get your hands on any of the orginal shop manuals for that year, that may answer your questions.

The VIN# hardly has any pertinent info.

I saw an early F350 with a small dump yesterday, his exhaust exited just ahead of the right rear wheel.
