Unhappy Code 212 Loss Of Idm Signal

I OWN A 95 F250 SUPERCAB 4X4 WITH 5.8 OD TRANNY. IT HAS RAN GOOD FOR 9 YEARS NOW. ON A RECENT TRIP TO THE LAKE WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. WHEN I GOT TO THE LAKE I CHANGED OUT THE IGNITION MODULE. THE ENGINE STILL RAN ROUGH AND HESITATED IN OD. I HAD TO RUN WITH OUT OD THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. I BOUGHT A CODE READER AND FOUND OUT I HAD A CODE 212 AND 213.
SINCE THEN I HAVE REPLACED THE PIP ASSEMBLY, DISTRIBUTOR COIL, IGNITION MODULE AND THE PCM COMPUTER.
I ONLY HAVE A CODE 212 NOW. THE RESISTANCE CHECKS AND GROUND CHECKS FOR THE IDM MODULE COME OUT GOOD. IS IT POSSIBLE ANOTHER SENSOR NOT HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER BUT CAUSING A GROUND. LIKE THE OXYGEN SENSORS, I HAVE 2 OF THEM? ALSO THE BOOK WANTS A 12 VOLT SIGNAL TO THE PCM FROM THE IDM MODULE ON PIN 4 IDM TO PIN4 PCM. I DONT HAVE THAT VOLTAGE. ANY IDEAS? THE NEXT STEP IS USE A FORD BREAKOUT BOX THAT I DONT HAVE. THE NEXT STEP IS TO TAKE IT TO FORD.

Check to see if the SPOUT circuit is still operating properly. You don't need a break out box to test the circuits - it just makes it easier. You can do the same tests by back probing the computer connector, being careful not to puncture any of the wiring insulation.

What do you mean by "back probing"? if you mean take off the eec harness then testing it that way with a multimeter that’s what I try by still couldn't find the problem

Back probing is when you put the multimeter probe into the side of the connector that the wires go into - you can do this with the harness still plugged in.

I checked and double checked just about every thing in my truck couldn’t find the problem, one night I was making sure timing was still at stock (10 btdc) and the dam truck turned in to a no-start, would crank and crank but wouldn’t start up, I was baffled I had checked absolutely everything (except for the back probing thing, never figured out how to get around the lil plastic thing covering the connector) I decided to check the battery while cranking before I went inside for the night, told someone to crank it for a second and surprisingly it started right up. It suddenly disappeared just as it had arrived and hasn’t come back since. Sorry cant really help ya, this was my thread on it. I know how you feel

trans

I have a 96 f250 5.8 with a e40d trans...the trans is shifting really hard, holding it in 2nd for wayy to long, and it seems like it has no power...got it plugged in and code was 212...a few weeks ago my truck broke down and just stopped running( coil was bad) fixed the coil now runs fine other then trans...do you think the code 212 is for my truck turning off or does the code have something to do with my trans?

More than likely someone has put the wrong ICM in the truck and that is why the code 212.
It should have a Black ICM and someone has put a Gray one on it.

However this will not effect the transmission, just how good it runs.

Does the speedometer work OK?
If not that is the problem with the transmission.
