They had General Ameritrak tires on the one I bought, but I finally ended up with Michelin LTX MS, after a little bargaining. Michelins are the smoothest riding tires you will ever find, and great in the snow. No roar, or whine what-so-ever.

Just my thoughts, but the Goodyear AT/S tires are about the best combination I have ever seen of decent highway and very good off-road traction. Plus they literally wear forever - which to me is 40,000+ miles on a 4X4 with 7/16" still left on tread wear when I buy new (7/16" is minimum for winter driving around here). I would sure upgrade to these tires and glad to know that is an option. We have never had good luck with BFG tires except for the AT/KO series. Otherwise, too much like soft-riding Michelins that don't like dirt/rock roads - the tread literally tears up.
