Not that id want to do that but um *coughs* there is some camaros and other chevys around my town that thinks they are bad to the bone. Well i, er i mean my friend, wants to build a 4 cylinder (if at all possible) to embarass these ppl, lol.

Not sure why anyone would think the I 4 doesn't have torque that rivals the 8's. I can get the front end off the ground in 1st through 3rd and break the tires loose in all 4 gears.

ditch drivetrain weight and balance everything and match parts. do your research on what parts work with other parts.
light pistions (like wiseco)
good rings (like total seal)
light crank
light rods
light flywheel (aluminum)
light driveshaft (aluminum)
shaved ring-gear
The more rotating mass you can remove the fast you engine will respond and it will seem like there is more HP.
Then start stripping the vehical for weight. I believe it's something like for ever pound of rotating mass is removed is equal to 50+ pounds on the car.
As for the head, an early 80's "d" port head (kidney shaped) responds the best to porting and polishing.
Then your standard stuff like shaving the head, header, carb (holley 350 2bl will pull 8000rpm), solid lifter cam or roller if your rich, adjustable cam pully, power pulleys, alt cut off switch for that extra 2 HP.
