need fireing order & cylinder location for 1964 F-100 292 V-8
i need the fireing order and cylinder locations for a 1964 292 V-8 ford engine from a F-100 and any info that might be useful during the rebuild prossess. Thanks
P.S it isn't my engine doing a rebuild for a customer in my shop so i didn't pull the engine and had no way of knowing the fireing order before hand. and can't find the info in the books that i own.
According to my 1964 Service manual, the cylinders are numbered from front to rear on the right bank 1,2,3,4 and on the left bank 5,6,7,8. The firing order is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2.
If I remember corretly It is twards the firewall near the clip that holds the cap down. Most caps have a 1 or some other type of mark for the number one wire.
Janet40 or one of the others in the Y-block forum might know excatly from memory.

Yep, there sure is a #1 on the distributor cap closest to the firewall side clip, so rewiring my plugs, accordlingly, & ccw on the cap, got it back to running right! Thanks, Art
