headers for a 289 in a 65 f-100

Hey I need a little help out there from somebody. I have a 289 out of a 66 GT all built up in my 65 F-100 and it really needs headers but I dont know what will fit. I have been told that headers made for the early 64-65 Fairlane and Mustangs will fit but i'm not to sure, so if anybody knows what I can use or has any suggestions, I would really apprecieate it.

I used "Summit"'s house brand $90 headers on my 65 with a 302 the headers was designed for latter 302 powered trucks.
The fitments was not great but i got them to work okay.
The biggest problem was the collector ended ~ 3 inches from the trany cross member and i had to make a quick bend to go around it.
289 and 302 should have same bolt pattern.

Interensting. I am looking for the same thing to finish my '65 F100 that I just put a 289 into out of my '65 mustang. I was pretty sure that the old ones I had on my '65 Mustang would work. I tried 5,0 headers but, since my truck has a manual transmission, the clutch pivot got in the way of those.

Oh, my name is also Aaron.

Good luck and I will also try looking into those same headers.

I real wanted to get some Coyote headers from a 66-76 bronco but hooker brought Coyote and closed the doors. They worked great in my bronco and cleared the clutch and shifter but were way to rotted to use, so got the summit ones.
If it stops raining I'll snap some Pict's.

Hey thanks for the advice it cleared quite a bit of things up, all except the fact that will those 302 headers clear all the clutch linkage and if not then i plan on putting a C-6 in here pretty quick, so they should clear with the automatic. I just got a set of headers from a buddy of mine he but for his '67 Bronco with a 302 and they look like they fit I'm going to try em this weekend, and thanks again for the info, I apprieciate it.

I also just got a 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator with a 351C, and yeah its a true Eliminator the only thing not original is of course is the motor, new rims, and its a britter yellow than the original. I've been having alot of fun with it while my truck is getting painted.

Yes both set cleared the clutch linkage and column shifter.

My 302 is installed with later 302 mounts but my frame is bent in the middle from a 6 ton oak stump being put in the bed (hey its a work truck) I had to shim the motor up ~1/2 inch to keep the drive shaft happy. I used the stock 6 bell-housing and linkage but had to drill and re-tap one hole in the motor. the main cross-shaft runs up hill to the motor.
I add a new gallery album with some crappy pict's
As you can see i did the exhaust my self I needed the truck that weekend and no time to drive to the shop for custom exhaust.
It works and no leaks so it will stay until it rots off.

Oh before you ask yes it has glass packs then three feet of tubing and in to center in turbos with offset outlets to make the raise over the axle. After the Z it's all straight pipe.
It's nice and quite on my long hauls. I tow 200 mile each way to the race track every weekend. I don't want to deaf before i get there.
Yes the motor leaks oil but not the 6 quarts / 100m the 6cyl did.
