I'm takin' bets on the new design.

I'm noticing that Ford is creating a lot of the same looking trucks now. The Explorer & Expedition look virtually the same. The front end of the new F150 is a mirror image of them ('cept for that cool looking grill that I can't put on my Expy...grrrrr).

I'm kinda thinking that the redesign of the Super Duty MAY just combine the F150 body design with the Super Duty chassis. It's not like they've never done it before.

(Those spy pics that have been seen, I believe are just diversions.)

So what do you think?

Maybe for the 07 change but I think the 05 will be just different grille and odds and ends.

I can handle a little sheet metal change, if they would leave the front suspension alone!

The new SD will likely take some styling ques from the F150/Tonka concept, but I think that having a separate body style for the SD was probably Ford's greatest marketing idea in the last 50 years. Sales of both styles jumped, but SD sales skyrocketed.

Ford makes more money on the SD, and they don't count towards their CAFE numbers, two VERY good reasons to try and keep SD sales strong at all costs.

My vote is for them to share more similiarities, and yet remain distinctly different trucks as they are now.

yeah...I'm with the others ....I think it will be a little of both. I think they'll uses some ideas from the new F150 and some new all together. And as it has been said : THEY MUST KEEP THEM DIFFERENT!

My vote goes to the Tonka Concept design. If I didn't already have a Superduty and was looking for one, I'd want something that is different than just being a bigger F150. I feel we are a little different breed and I'd like to see them keep it that way.
Super-Duty, not Tootie-Fruity

Saw the next gen Expedition running aroung town last week, had blankets over the body panels to hide lines. It looks a bit smaller than current and didn't have the F-150 front nose of the '04.

You mean Ford would actually homogenize bodies for different chassis?? If you ask me the '04 F-150 body looks like a trimmed down SD

I think the '05 "refresh" is going to be comprised of pretty minor changes. The '07 re-design will probably bring the F150 and Super Duty much closer in appearance (and possibly mechanically too).

I would guess that since they made the 99 Superduty and the 99 F150 with completely different body styles, and that worked very well for them, that they would continue to do so.

Thumbs down

They could be like chevy and make all of their trucks into avalanche clones. In this month's Four Wheeler there is a spy pic of the '05 . The front and sides look pretty similar to my truck, to me anyway.
