1994 F350- I can’t figure out the Check Engine Light
I had some great discussions a couple of weeks ago, with some member about my Check Engine Light (CEL). We all thought it could be my Catalytic Converter, so I had it removed. The CEL didn’t turn back one right away, so I thought the problem was fixed. After I drove my about 15 miles it turned back on. It seems like when it gets to a certain temperature it turns on. When I turn it off for a few minutes it turns off, but once it warms up again it turns on again. Let me give you a history of what I have done and please give me some advise of what to try next:
-I had my cousin at AutoZone run the test and the codes read Oxygen Sensor, so I replaced that.
-Next I read on Ford Truck Enthusiasts that it may be my MAP Sensor or the connection on the Oxygen Sensor may have a bad connection. So, I replaced the MAP Sensor and put some electro-gel on the connection.
-The next thing I did was remove the catalytic converter and weld in a straight pipe. The truck is running a lot better, but the CEL is still coming on.
-I have disconnected the battery after each thing I have tried to reset the computer, but no luck.
Please give me some different ideas.
Thanks

I have a volt meter and I teseted the MAP Sensor. It was bad, but I still can't figure out what is wrong. What is the vacuum pump for?

Test the parts before you replace them. You really need a multimeter and a vacuum pump to work on these trucks. What you paid so far would likely have bought both.

I think what he is trying to say about the vacuum pump is that it can do several things trying to solve problems:
1. Act as a vacuum source to actuate many types of sensors and valves.
2. Give you the ability to read manifold vacuum.
3. Give you the ability to read the vacuum sent to sensors and valves.
4. Pump/Suck fluids as needed.
5. Have something to throw when you are overly frustrated
Get a paperclip and post your code(s). Maybe you can get some more ideas before you buy parts.
