I had this posted in the trans/diff section but I thought it might get more responce here, just because this is an older truck and it apears to me that the trans/diff section mostly discuses newer trucks and auto's alot. sorry for the mispost.

hey any of you seen have or hear of a shifter for a ford cast iron case four speed trans. ? I have the O.D. version of this tranny and am wondering where to find the top shifter so I can put this in my '68 highboy 4x4.....I can use the existing shifter and external linkage but it comes thru the floor where the T.C. shifter is sopposed to.
this truck was orignally a 3 on the tree and NP205 and now will be a 4 spped od with NP203, that is as soon as I can find this "top shifter" that I have heard of that goes in place of the cover. then I can build a bracket to hold my T.C. shifter to go where the old side shifter was.
anyone have one layin' around or pictures of one? and if there was such an animal, what model ford did it come in? info is power! le'me kno if you know anything about this, Thanks much.

 

Check with the jeep guys. I think the t176 tranny was the ford toploader 4sp with a top shift
