I can't see how. At the most, you might feel a slight surging, but I doubt even that.

A followup: that clean-it fix only lasted four months. I had to replace the valve with a new one.

I apologize if this is against forum rules but I could not go through all these posts to see if anyone had my problem.

I have a 2000 ford ranger 2.5l, it runs fine most of the time except for the last couple of weeks. It has been bogging out on me. I'll be driving down the road and all of a sudden it'll start bogging out, so I'll get off the gas for a second and then it'll regain it's normality and be fine.

This isn't always the case though, I was driving down the highway and it died on my completely a couple times. I had to let it bog down until it died, then crank it back up afterwards(while driving on the highway). I was kind of low on gas but I was not out of gas.

It also has trouble starting, I have to try turning it over a couple of times before it will crank.

I went to get the codes checked(my cel bulb went out so it was a random guess to go get the codes checked) and I got the code-- P0171 indicating that the Bank 1 system was too lean for a predetermined period of time--

The sheet that the autoparts store employee printed out for me says I need to replace the

Evaporative Emissions Purge Solenoid Vacuum Hose, Where is this located and does it sound like this might be the culprit?

Thank you for any help any of you can give me!

You should probably post over on a Ranger subforum, rather than in the Aerostar forum, for specific advise on your engine (which was never installed in an Aerostar) and the location of your EVP valve.

Having said that, the odds are good that you don't want to replace your EVP valve.

ANY air leak in the evaporative emissions control system is likely to yield that P0171. I chased one on my '97 Aero for months before tracking it down to an air leak in the EGR valve, a rare failure mode.

It's very common to have a rotted or split vacuum line cause that code.

So, now you know that the onboard diagnostics do not tell you what part to replace, only what symptom to research.

Pray continue your research in the Ranger & B-series Mazda forum.

1996 Mazda B3k 3.0 P1443

I have gone through the whole thread. I changed my fuel pump and filler neck about a year ago. A couple of weeks ago got the P1443 error ordered and installed the ford purge valve/solenoid hose assembly. Found and fixed a broken wire on the 3 wire connector. Still have the code. Blew the hose going back to the tank it’s clear but no gurgling noise in the tank as I’ve read there should be. Could the tank have a stuck vent valve. If so how do I fix that. I tired air but got nothing.

After much frustration I tested the new valve from Ford. It was bad. Ordered a new one from Amazon and fixed it.

First thank you for great informative posts. I'm struggling with, Nothing for the 2.5L models? My question is are there similar EVAP repair assembly kits for B2500 2.5L?
