I did a little searching on this fourm to get the information for myself but I wanted to ask anyway; what is the model of the spreadbore carburetor found on 460's?

I bought a 4bb intake for a Cleveland with the small, 2v type ports and it has a spreadbore throttle plate configuration.

The model number I found by searching is 4180 and I assume that this is an Autolite carb. Are there any other models of Autolite carbs with the same spreadbore pattern?

 

4300 Motorcraft, spreadbore.

Don't know about any Autolite spreadbores.

In 70 and 71 an actual Rochester Quadrajet spreadbore, 715CFM, was made for the 429 CJ's and Police Interceptors.

 

Autolite carbs were renamed to Motorcraft sometime around 1970.

4180 sounds like a Holley number.

 

Yes the 4180 was the Holley/Motorcraft 4bbl, but it is not a spreadbore.

It is the standard Holley squarebore.

 

Motorcraft 4350 is also a 460 spreadbore application

 

The Motorcraft carbs are JUNK.

I used a adapter plate and use a Holley carb now.

Ok, my bad. I thought the Holley 4010 and 4011 were Motorcraft carbs.

 

When Ford ditched the 43xx sometime in the early 80's, they started using Holleys instead. These Holleys come with a Motorcraft tag.

 

The Holley / Motorcraft 4180 CFM is somewhat similar to a 4160 Holley 600 CFM.

But from what I have read, the 4180 is not a performance carburetor and can not be made into one.
