Help with muffler decision

I have a 1986 Ford F150 4x4 with a 302 and it has no cats and a Y-pipe into dual glasspacks and then out the back through 3 1/2" tips. My question is, has anyone put a 40 series flowmaster 3" in and dual 2.25 or 2.5 out on a truck like this? If so, how did it sound? My next idea was get a 3" center in/ 3" center out flowmaster 40 and put it on my 3" pipe coming back where my Y-pipe is and then put my Y after the Flowmaster and through the tail pipes. What would be louder of the two? I'm not real satisfied with the sound of the packs. I want it to have a mean, deep rumble. I have 40 Series Flowmasters on my 450+ horse 351c powered truck but this motor is stock and don't know what it would sound like on it? Thanks for the help in advance guys.

Help with muffler decision

Well the truck is a 1982 Ford 2wd shortbox that has some slight modifications to it. It is lowered front and rear about 3 inches, has a 9" rear with 3.89 trac-loc. The motor is a 1970 351 Cleveland 4v. The heads have been ported and polished and the rocker pedastals have been milled down to accept screw in studs. The complete rotating assembly has been balanced and heads were also blueprinted. The cam is a Comp Cams hyd roller, 244@.050 and .612" lift. Running Crane Gold Race Wide Body roller rockers, with Milodon Race-Flo Valves: 2.19" intake, 1.71" exhaust. TRW flat top pistons yield about 10.75-11:1 compression. It has a Blue Thunder high rise dual plane intake with a Holley 830 double pumper with annular boosters. The headers are Sanderson Street Rod headers and they flow into dual 2.5" pipe to the dual 40 Series Flowmasters and out via turndowns. A complete Mallory Hy-Fire Ignition with a unilite distributor take care of the spark. The trans is a street/strip c6 that has been machined out to accept roller bearings whereever a bushing was present. A custom Dacco 3800 rpm stall helps get it off the line. For traction adders I have drag shocks in the front from a ford car with special brackets made so they would work and snubber(slapper)bars on the rear to keep things from twisting. Engine Analyzer said about 480 horse @ 6500 and 410 ft/lbs of torque @ 5000. Desktop dyno show about 550 hp and 460 ft/lbs torque but I think that is way too high. Never had it to a drag strip before but a bunch of kids around here have a spot that they have marked off as a quarter and it runs a 12.8-13.1 consistantly and not sure of the mph cuz my speedo stops at 85. Its just my "fun" truck that I cruise around with. Now, I just need help to make my 302 powered truck sound better so when I pull my white truck to the strip sometime, it sounds good doing it.

Help with muffler decision

I ended up buying a 3" in, dual 2.25" out Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow Stainless Steel muffler. It is brand new and I got a real good deal on it. I just hope it sounds good. According to the web site and company I bought it from, its just a little bit quieter on the outside and a lot quieter on the inside. I still want people to know that I am tromping it down and I want a good sound at idle. A good rumble would be nice. Now the fun part, how do you make it sound like you have a big ol' cam without changing out the stock cam? HAHAHAHA!!! Dont we all wish. I'll keep ya updated on how it sounds.
