4.6 with 300,000 miles (what to do)

So went to do my plugs and found d coolant on The tips of #5/6 I've had a feeling the gasket has been getting worse for a while and this just confirmed it. Did the even do the last 2 because I don't care now. So the truck does have 300,000 miles so I was looking into just getting g a new motor. Not it is a 98 can I swap in a 5.4 and then add the 5.4 computer. Or is the wiring harness different? And other things to where it's more of a pain than what it's worth. Of just get another 4.6 and throw it in.

If the motor has no operation problems, just uses a little antifreeze, I would try to seal it up........ I had good luck using BARS COPPER gasket sealer. You get a bottle about 12 oz and pour into the antifreeze.. no need to drain. Running the truck builds up 14 psi in the water system. Shut it off and the pressure pushes the water/ sealer into the cracks in the gasket / head.. Stopped the leak in a couple days. I used it that way for 40K more miles. ........ worth a try for $10.

Yeah I was wondering if that would work. It just started running rough if it's been sitting a couple hours. but it smooths out after a couple seconds. So I was thinking the plugs were wearing out or something with the electrical stuff. I'll give that stuff a shot

+1 on the copper or aluminum sealer flakes. With that many miles you aren't out much to give it a try.

I have had luck sealing a cracked block on a tractor engine with it, still holding ten years later!
