2007 4.2L F150 Serpentine Belt Woes
Had an alternator pulley seize up and a broken belt as a result. Replaced the alternator and am now attempting to put a new belt on. The fan attaches to the pulley via a shaft and I can't figure out how you are supposed to put the serpentine belt on. If the fan didn't attach to the pulley it would be easy, but the shaft blocks your ability to get the belt around one of the pulleys. I've done some googling and forum searches but am coming up blank. Can someone help me out?

Essentially you work around the fan to get the belt on/off. So after studying the belt diagram below you should be able to go around the water pump pulley (where the fan attaches) starting from the upper passenger side, then start going around the crankshaft pulley on one side, power steering pulley on the other side and just start working your way all around until you get up to the idler on top. At that point move the belt tensioner to where you can slide the belt under the idler pulley and release the belt tensioner so it can take up the slack. Verify the new belt is sitting in the grooves correctly and is not out of alignment.
