My 3rd V10 - 06 F250 - love it
I've been on a quest for the past couple of months for a truck after getting permission from my wife to finally get one after 12 yrs of driving Suburban's and a 15 passenger van.
The massive confusion I created for myself between 7.3l diesel, 6.2l gas, 6.8l V10 was driving me nuts. I almost pulled the trigger last week on a 2011 F150 Platinum with the 6.2l and max tow package. In the end something didn't feel right with the dealer and I realized that, yes, I really did want a 3/4t truck to tow my 65 Falcon to shows.
I even had gotten to the point that I looked at Dodge trucks - both 5.7 and 6.4 hemi engines. But, in the end it was the pull of my love for Ford trucks and the V10 engine that got me where I am tonight. I had the 2V V10 in the 15 passenger E350 and have a V10 in the 04 Class C motorhome (not sure if 2V or 3V) so I have some familiarity with the engine.
So, today, I happily paid for a 2006 F250 CC short bed with the King Ranch option in Lewiston, Idaho. 88k miles and 2428 hours on it when I started the 4 hr drive home (thanks to cruddy roads it took an extra half hour).
Love the truck. The leather quality is top notch and visibility is excellent. The headlights leave something to be desired so I may have to look into new bulbs. I also need to put a muffler on it - you can't hear the thing at all. Sitting at a stop light and I had to look at the tach to make sure the engine was still on. It's gotta sound like a truck a little bit.
The worst part is the dealer put on some cruddy 35X12.5 tires with big ***** - not my style. The also had a pretty strong vibration through the tires. I will be putting on a new set of 295/60R20 Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires and narrow it up about an inch. At my age I'm not into the wide tire stance. Will keep the Fuel rims on it since my 76yo father thought they looked good.
Other than that I'll make sure to order my 5 Star tune shortly.

I have a 06 V10 and also didn't like the silent exhaust, tried a Magnaflow Super Turbo muffler, you can hear it in the cab now but it's just an annoying hum. several of the 2V guys have had really good luck with this muffler Aero Exhaust AT3030XL Performance Muffler 3" inside diameter , most likely what I'll be trying next.... FYI a straight pipe after the cat is an insanely loud idea that lasted only days for me.

Sweet ride you found! I had an 06 and put a brightsource HID kit with the SFB bulb in it. Not the kit with the RFB bulb! Those headlights were the best I have ever had and they DIDNT blind oncoming traffic. An awesome upgrade. I have an 09 now and put the same kit in it. They don't work anywhere nearly as well as they did in those 06 housings.
