fly wheel installation question

I believe this is the
Engine Crankshaft Reinforcement Plate

Searching for correct placement of this plate is confusing me, I'm getting different info.. This is a ZF5 Manual.

There is evidence that the reinforcement plate was installed in between the block, and the Flywheel. Not so much evidence of it being installed in between the flywheel and the clutch. which side of the flywheel is this ring supposed to go????

See photo's below. You can see Sharpy marks on the flywheel that shows me someone torqued these once.. marking bolts that were torqued, also, I can see bolt head evidence. The reinforcement plate covers those marks..

I'm not sure why, but I'm almost positive it goes on top of the flywheel.

Just changed the clutch on my 97 and the spacer was behind the flywheel, meaning block, flywheel, then the plate. I converted to a SMF instead of the dual mass and I feel like I have some memory of not reusing it but I know that isnt right. But I know if came off before the flywheel.

Same here, I just replaced the original clutch on my 1994 and it came off just like this^

Yeah mine was installed on top of the flywheel when I had it. Unfortunately I threw it away somewhere along the lines of the install so I'm not even using it. I called LUK and they said I should be fine running without it.

Just a WAG, but I could imagine those marks on the flywheel being there if the flywheel were ever put on a machine to be resurfaced.
