PCM Software update

Any experience with updated PCM mapping/software?

i have a 2004 5.4 and wondering if I can ask the stealership for a newer version as I'm scheduled for a recall anyways.

so any improvements in fuel economy or accel response?

It's quite possible that if you've had your van in for service with a Ford dealership in the last 13 years it's already been flashed with an updated strategy without them even asking you. Otherwise, the answer is yes. They can do it but will likely charge some labor for a 2 minute process. Not sure about any performance/mileage gains on the 5.4.

thanks for the reply. The van is located in Germany and used to be an US marines vehicle in Italy, so it's not likely it has been updated.

You might want to look into custom tuning than just simply taking the latest Ford flash. Might see better gains that way. Here's one option: Got a 5.4L V8? - 5 Star Tuning
