School me on how to use the fuel economy setting.
I need somebody to school me on the Fuel Economy setting on my truck. I have a 2016 CC 4X4 SB 6.2, 4500 miles. Running 285/65/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it. I don’t understand the instant mileage feature, it will show 11+ driving around town and then when I tow my 6500lbs trailer it will drop to around 9 within a few miles of the tow. Once I’m done towing and hitting the highway it takes forever to start climbing back up, I mean like hundreds of miles. If it is an instant reading why dose it take so long to get back to a highway mileage. What time setting do most of you use with this feature, 5 min, 10 minutes. 30 minutes. Mine is set on the 30-minute setting. The reason for this post is that I am really disappointed in my mileage, since my last tow I can barely get 10 mpg. Nothing has change, same commute etc.… I am hoping that maybe something is wrong with the trucks calculations.

To be more clear - only the bars on the left of the display are your instant mileage. The number to the right is cumulative. I personally never reset the cumulative. It is telling me what my average fuel mileage has been since I bought the truck. If you want to know what your mileage for the last tank of gas was, check the trip meter function.
My cumulative mileage currently indicates 12.2 mpg. I haven't checked, but I suspect my trip mileage is somewhere around 10 mpg since I was towing a fifth wheel. But most times, the trip indicates 13 or 14 mpg. I keep the instant mileage display up and set for the last five minutes. It encourages me to try to get each bar above the index (figure I'm doing good if three out of five are above the line).
