ZF5 speedometer

I have a question for you transmission experts. Did the 1995 zf5 transmission have a speedometer or was it in the rear end. And if it was in the differential is there a way to hook up a digital speedometer to the zf5 transmission? I have put this transmission in a 1955 F100 with a 9-inch rear end.

Dunno. But is it a 4wd truck? If so, use the output on the transfer case. Otherwise, if you don't get a response here try asking in the 1987-96 forum.

It did not have a speedometer drive, but there may be a boss on the case that can be drilled to add the sensor (although it may be difficult to do this while assembled without getting metal shavings inside the case). There is a spacer in place of the drive gear on the output shaft - you can pull the yoke and the rear seal to remove the spacer and add the gear.
