The intake is dang heavy, I used my engine hoist to take it off and set it back on.
An OEM FE weighs 80 pounds... an aftermarket aluminum FE intake weighs about 22 pounds.

I understand that. He said he wanted "original". No Bumpside came with a 4-bbl intake so, nothing would be original for this application, in that regard. This being the case, if a non-original 4-bbl intake is going to be installed, take advantage of the non-orignal part and go with something that's actually better than a heavy cast iron factory intake that isn't going to flow as well.

The aftermarket manufacturer's name can be ground off and the intake painted Ford blue and most would be none the wiser as to what the intake is.

I will double check that. This truck was 100% as out of the box, low miles etc. I was the first to open the engine. This is mostly the reason I want to keep it original (except the internals).

Do you have any pictures of the truck you can post? We like photos around here --doesn't matter if it's a tricked out pro-touring truck or, one that was just pulled out of the weeds or, something in between, we like them all.

Here is some picture of when I first got the truck in 2010.
Bought from the original owners family, was bought new with a new camper and was just that, a camper special! then it sat for a few decades with a camper rotting in the bed. I was used for a bit on the farm after that hauling cattle, then sat some more etc, etc.
I even have the original "camper harness" !!
I wish I had the NEW tailgate that was taken off it in 69'
Truck has 88K original mile, undocumented but based on wear or lack of and various other factors I believe to be true such as sporting original FoMoCo bulbs, engine has never been opened etc.
It's a Explorer, late 69' production base on my research.
Has aftermarket vintage cruise control, can't quite get it to work correctly.
Notice the incorrect year of tailgate and bumper? lol, was the first things to go in the trash (sold on craigslist) and reviled the factory and working license plate mount and light.
Also removed the aftermarket radio and found the original block off plate and installed as my truck was not equipped with a radio from the factory.
I've also sourced the original (ugly) western Jr. mirrors, the correct tailgate. That's about it other than a carb overhaul and tune up etc. The truck now is in a dusty slumber awaiting fresh power plant.

All FE truck manifolds had a big uppercase T stamped on them denoting they were a truck manifold. Try scouring junkyards for a 4bbl car manifold with the stamping of C8(68') if you want to keep it looking original. I used to have a bunch of different kinds of 4bbl cast intakes, but got rid of them after I sold my 68' F100. There were a few different height manifolds available for the C8 casted ones.

Nice find. It won't break the bank to get it looking nice either.
