Looking for a locker for my 1999 F450 with a Dana 80 rear end. I had decided on a Detroit Locker. Best price I have found online is 700 but only 1 place. Most are close to 800. I stumbled upon this at a advance auto. I can get 50 off but am seeing if I can get a better price thru my friends shop. Powertrax Powertrax No-Slip Traction System 9204803700: Advance Auto Parts it appears to work similar to the Detroit just inside of the stock carrier. I like the fact of not having to set up the gears if I leave the gearing alone but I may switch to 4.10 gearing while I'm at it. Does anyone have any experience with these Powertrax lockers? Any reason to buy it over the Detroit other than price? . I have read a ton of threads on the Detroit Lockers and none on the powertrax so I'm a little unsure. From what I've read I think I'll be happy with a Detroit and the quirks they come with.

My Dad will be setting up the gears for me if I change gears or get the Detroit. He says not to get a truetrac because that is what he put in his 78 F150 way back when and he thinks I'll be happier with the locker.

 

Big heavy rig...you want to do it once go detroit..I have the stuff in the diff in my front axle. detroit in rear...I'd put one in front if they made one.
