Frankenstein 1965 f100 4x4

i have a 1965 f100 4x4 that was originally made as a 2wd but it was later converted to 4x4 it has a dana 24 and a dana 44 as well as a ford 9 inch, i guess the drive line is a f250 drive line because it has a 8 bolt pattern and 16 inch rims but it also has a 300 inline 6, it also has a 4 speed. im a young guy that has alot of questions so i'll be needing some help

i paid $1200 cad worth it?

Welcome aboard.

I'm curious about the 9 inch. I didn't think Ford had a 9 inch with 8 lugs. And F250s, at least of this era, didn't come with a 9 inch. Typically Dana 60 rear end.

Dana 44 front end and Dana 24 transfer case could have come from an F250.

Could be. You can ID your own rear axle or take a pic and post it.

The 9 inch should have bolts/nuts on the front side only where the driveshaft comes in. The back side is smooth with no access cover.

Ford Rear Axle Assembly Identification - Page 01 - FORDification.com

The Dana 60 has an access cover that is on the backside and can be removed without removing the driveshaft or usually anything else.

Axle Builder | Dana 60 Identification (BOM Lookup)

Or it could be a 5 lug 9 inch with adapters at the wheels to run the 8 lug rims. There's a few possibilities.

Your tailgate looks pretty good, and correct. It's a bit rough at the bottom but I've seen (owned) much worse. They are not reproduced for the Styleside trucks. That's a heck of a sturdy bumper too.

It's interesting that you have a Standard Cab truck, with Tu-Tone Paint, according to the Warranty Plate decode by NumberDummy. I can't think that this is too common, I could be wrong, hopefully others will chime in.

Do you have the white metal with round speedo (Standard Cab) or the silver/chrome like plastic with sweep speedo (Custom Cab) ?

Do you have a horn button or a horn ring (with spokes) in the steering wheel?

Dana 60 would be the rearend and Dana 44 is the front end. A Dana 60 in the front comes in 1 ton trucks. I am not a 4x4 guy so I am assuming that a Dana 24 is the transfer case.

There were no F350's (1 ton trucks) with factory installed 4WD until 1979. These F350 4WD's came with Dana 60's front and rear.
