Battery light on

Hi all, I just had head gaskets replaced on my 1997 F250 Heavy Duty, 5.8
When we started it, the battery light comes on and stays on, even though by testing the battery is charging, and the dash gauge shows its charging. The only wiring we disturbed was the positive post. We jus set the alt. off to the side.
Any ideas?

First use a volt meter and check the voltage at the battery if it isn't over 13 volts then it isn't charging. One of two things either green with red striped wire has a short to ground or the regulator in the alternator is bad. Unplug the three wire connector turn the key to run and see if the light stays on if it does the there is a short in that wire. If it is off then the regulator is suspect.
