rear fuel tank bolts f-250 1990

The rear gas tank is leaking on my 1990 f250.

So I need to remove the bolts that hold the straps.

First, I was wondering what the size of the bolt head is? the nut is 15mm. But, I can't find a socket that fits tight on the head. I've seen others that have said it is 13mm but that socket is really loose.

And, the bolt is really rusty. I don't need to reuse the bolt. I'd just grind it off, but the tank is leaking. So, cant use power tools. What have you all used to cut one of these bolts off?

Thanks

I was thinking about using a nut splitter.

But, how well with that work on a flange nut?

Thanks

If it's 13mm hammer a 1/2 over is 1/2 = 12.7mm. I'd use angle grinder before I used a nut splitter. If the tank isn't dripping wet you should be fine.

waited 2 weeks and everything was dry. cut the nuts off with an angle grinder.
turns out the head of the bolt was 1/2 inch. seem odd to have a 1/2" fit the bolt head and a 15mm to fit the nut.

thanks for the help

im glad im not the only one trying to figure out the gas tank hangerstrap nuts are. I crawled my big *** under there with a cressent,13mm,14mm,1/2,9/16,5/8 and none fit. I got a 15mm and it was too big. The 1/2 ,12,13,&14 were too small. The 5/8 barely touched the corners of the nuts. The 15 is too big. They look lime theyve never had a wrench on them. Ill go buy some 6 sided deep standard size sockets and see if that works
