I've been toying with putting a 440/727 in mine. Guess that's way out in left field somewhere.

I like just about anything. Whatever keeps old iron on the road is good for me, doesn't matter what brand parts are used.
Just bought another pair of Hudson tail lights for my 57 International build coming up
Yep its getting a chevy engine too!

There are a couple of '47-early'55 Chevy pickups here with small block Ford engines in them. They really upset the Chevy guys when they show up at the local car shows.

I've never understood the almost religious viewpoint on automotive brands. I've played with Fords, Chevys, Mopars and foreign brands and I've had good and bad in all of them. After working in the auto manufacturing industry for lot of my life I know that you can get a real piece of junk from any of the mass produced automotive lines. All it takes is a technician on a line with something on his mind other than doing his job, or robotics malfunctioning and nobody catches it, or some engineer that decides he can save 3 cents on a part and it results in a thousand engines going to lunch before it's caught, resulting in a bunch of overtime for plant repair areas.

My truck is a mix of different brand vehicles and since I've been driving it to cruise ins and shows I've not had any comments on the lack of pedigree. If you look closely at the picture you may notice a familiar symbol on the tri-bars on my wheels. I've only had one person even notice.....heck most people don't even know what make of truck it is.

If you're restoring a vehicle....I get it. If it' modified, I don't understand the reason for the constant beating of the dead horse when a different engine is used.

Interesting. . . And it would probably fit in one of our trucks . . . But I wonder with only 160 hp and 267 ft-lbs why they didn't go for more. Maybe they are going after the Prius repower market😉

As others have stated... It's your truck... Mine isn't a restoration it's a hot rod... to start my history lesson of today, I owned a '49 Ford F1 in the late 70's for a decade. I tried to keep it all Original I6... My dad and I called all over Ariz, Cali, NV, Utah & NM in '81 looking for an flathead I6 or V8 and no luck... So I installed a Olds 425 Rocket motor & trans that was in my other car into the F1... Only time I looked back is when I kick myself for selling it. This time I bought one that already has a SBC 350, but I've been kicking the idea of changing to an LS engine... DARKSIDE!

The HF quote is just a bit of fun. Personally I would like to have rebuilt my Y Block but the costs were way too high importing parts and then trying to find someone competent to do the work on what would be an unfamiliar engine. So once that was decided the next choice was down to ease of fitting, cost and reliability. The manufacturer itself didn't matter.

Or how about this one Joe (sorry for the picture quality but this was taken with a Super 8 movie camera in 1967 north of the 38th Parallel in Korea):

M88 tank retriever engine and final drive fill up the back of a 5 ton dump truck.

Need some real big helper springs on the front of an F1
