Hey guys. Getting my truck ready for paint but how do I get the trim pieces off the sides? The trim that runs inside the "dent".

The fender piece has a nut on each end. Remove the side marker lens and maybe you can get in there. Open the door, there is the other one on the back side of the fender. 3 plastic tabs inbetween the metal tabs.

On the door there is also a nut on each end. Remove them the you can carefully pop the piece off, also 3 plastic mount tabs.

Bed has lots of plastic tabs. Remove tail light lens to get to the nut by the side marker.

How do you remove the trim from the plastic clips? Always wondered that.

As long as you are careful you can just pop it off. The plastic pieces are mounted by sliding them onto a rivet head in the bed, door, fender.

So no getting them off still in the trim. The trim also has a slot cut in it to put the plastic piece inside the trim and slide it into position.

The plastic piece has very small tabs (one on top one on bottom) and they can break off during the removal process. So always plan on purchasing new.
