Recall Coming: 2010-2012 Esc. & 2010-2011 Mariners w/ 3.0 L V6
They said "with 3.0L flex-fuel V6 engines", but TMK, all of the v6's of those years were flex-fuel, has it on a body badge.
Here is the link, it is the 2nd story down the page:
3 carmakers recalling 6.3 million vehicles
Locally, Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 412,000 older SUVs worldwide to fix fuel leaks that could cause fires.
The recall covers certain 2010 to 2012 Ford Escapes and 2010 to 2011 Mercury Mariners with 3-liter flex-fuel V6 engines.
Ford says a fuel supply part can develop a crack and leak gasoline that could catch fire. A company statement says it’s not aware of any accidents, fires or injuries caused by the problem. Most of the recalled SUVs are in North America.
Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module flange assembly at no cost to owners. Ford says customers will be notified by the week of Dec. 12.
Ford says owners who smell gasoline or suspect problems should contact their dealer.

Might have been when the Mercury name was dumped, omitting 2012MY. My 2009 has only 4WD and Limited badges. I think they changed that to AWD and added the Flex-Fuel badge, don't know if/how the Limited versions are marked in 2010.
The Fusion has the same exact system but they didn't want to call it 4WD, I guess. The Ford Escape shop manual uses both terms.

The 3.0L V6 went to flex fuel capable, up to and including E85, with the 2010 model year. I remember reading it in the brochure back then, can't find the brochure copy I saved off somewhere. It's in the owners manuals, too.
Flex-fuel V6 also has a yellow ring at fuel filler (but, but, shouldn't it have been a GREEN ring, instead? ).
Flex-fuel capability was completely irrelevant to me, and I wasn't interested in the V6 anyway.
I suspect that the redesign of the part to have the ability to withstand alcohol created some other problem, which showed up over time.
I wonder, when the affected people get their recall notices and take it to the dealership, will the service writers intercept them OUTSIDE the drive-in area? (you ain't bringin' that in HERE, bud!)
