2017 f-250 Actual Payload
Hello All
I am a new member as of today.
I will be ordering a new Super Duty in the spring to replace my 2015 F-150.
(Not enough Payload)
I will be going with a 6.2L Gaser, however I am on the fence with F-250 vs F-350. Does anyone have a 2017 F-250 4X4 XLT Crew Cab with the 6.2 ? I would really like to know what the actual payload listed on the door sticker is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks !

No problem. The only thing I wish I would have done differently would be to get the 4.30 gears. My lease was up though so didn't have time to wait to build a truck and nothing was available anywhere around me that had 4.30 gears with similar options.
I also don't understand the different gawr ratings between the f250 and f350. From my understanding the front axles are the exact same and with the same tire and pressure yet the f350 is rated around 5990lbs and the 250 at 4400lbs. For ~1k more the extra in the f350 might be worth it. Same with the rear even though those have different tire psi, the sticker will say a higher number.

Jdunk,
My lease on my F-150 is up in mid July. I already spoke with my Ford dealer. He suggested I come see him in early April to place an order. I am still on the fence about F-250 vs F-350. I do not want to spend the extra $1200 if I do not need it however some reserve payload would be good. I will take your suggestion and go with the 4.30 gears. I also am confused about Ford published numbers. I noticed the difference you pointed out, and there are a number of other things that do not make sense to me. For example why does the 11500 GVWR SRW F-350 Crew Cab Short Box have a published payload of 3930 lbs, and the 11300 GVWR version of the same truck list a payload of 4470 ???
Maybe it will all make sense by April.
Thanks again.

The 11,300 truck has the gas engine and weighs several hundred pounds less. 200 pounds less gvwr but 700 pound lighter truck means 500 pounds more payload.

The truck tows way better than my 2014 chevy 1500 z71 5.3 with the exact same stuff loaded up (Rzr, trailer, camping gear which weighs ~3500 lbs all together) With the Ford I averaged around 12mpg pulling all that through Arizona going from 1000ft to 7500ft elevation. On the way back was around 13mpg. Around Town empty I get about 14mpg. The chevy was 6-8mpg doing the same.
With the chevy I was at or near full throttle doing that same trip up those 6-8% grades. The ford just took it in stride and I had plenty of power left, almost like nothing was there. Put 10,000lbs+ behind it and I am sure it will be different but I feel it will still handle it just fine, just not 75mph up mountain passes.
If you are coming from diesel you will have to get used to the higher revs of the gas engine while towing but I have no complaints right now.
