2004 F550 6.0 Engine issues. Need advice!!

We had a so called mechanic working on our engine. The guy took it apart and replaced the fuel injectors and lifters. Said it wasn't running right need to purchase replacement heads. Ended up not finishing the job and left it ripped open. The truck has 6 brand new tires. The piston for the dump was replaced. Has a new fenders hood and head lights. Transmission has been rebuilt has 350 miles on it. Not sure if we should sink a new engine or rebuild it? We are in the Massachusetts area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Philip,

Sorry to hear that you had problems with a mechanic. I would try to see if there is a Diesel or specifically a Powerstroke specialist in your area and see what he can come up with. I would be very hesitant to believe somebody's word who would have the gall to left the job unfinished. What exactly was the engine doing prior to this work on it?? A lot of times there isn't a need to replace an engine if you can figure out the issue. Let us know!
