351m headers went in the scrap barrel
Thought I'd post in case it will help anyone. Just removed leaking, rotting headers & 2-1/2" dual system, replaced w/manifolds, Y-pipe, & stock muffler. No tail pipe for now. This on a '78 F250 work truck.
Previously it had an annoying flat spot just off idle that I couldn't eliminate, & ran fair at best from 0 to 35-40 mph or so. Surprise to me but it's Way better now. Pleasant to drive & sounds good, to my thinking.
Very pleased with the result. Got Y-pipe from Rock Auto, Advance had a muffler in stock. Both made in USA. Manifolds were in the barn - I keep a lot of extra stuff. Total cost about $200 & took most of a weekend.
