Billet Hood hinges

Hi All I am hoping some body can give me a bit of advice.

I am part way through restoring a 1955 truck and have not been very
successful at getting the hood to operate as I would like it to.

Everything I have read says it is not a good design.
I was considering a set of billet hinges, but have not been able to find a review on this site, has any one here purchased a set and are you happy with them?
I am down in New Zealand so it is a long way to have to send them back.
Thank you all for the help.

This seems to be the mystery around here. Charlie designed his own then stopped that venture to test out a set that is now being mass produced and most likely the ones you are looking at. But he never gave a review of them or supplied pictures of them installed or their functionality. Others also have said that they bought them but never gave a review and or supplied pics of installed.

I've reviewed the other posts on here and other places about these but I am in the same boat as you and so are others. Seems to be no real solid reviews of them. My guess is that the $600+ price tag is keep them out of the hands of most of us.

But really SOMEONE has to have a set of these on here and can take a few moments to share their experience with them and if they are worth the cost.

Yes please I'm in the same boat and have asked this question with the same results . Price is lots for you stateside but would cost me $1000 + in Canada so I would have to have some excellent reviews before I would even consider them

I have asked in the past as well, and would like a set of them if they operated well.

I'll most likely be buying a set and testing them out as my stock ones are very worn and the look of the billet ones are the look I'm go for in my truck. And the forward flip hood kit is just about the same cost and a bit over done IMO. Sorry guys that have done it. But right now my truck is just a frame with the cab sitting on a roller dolly, the front clip in the second level of my garage and the hood leaning on the wall in the next room.

Quite honestly I feel that the lack of favorable reviews is telling , the people that have spent the money should be happy to brag about them unless they simply aren't that good

Honestly I feel the opposite. Also I've not seen any reviews. Good nor bad. And people are more likely to complain about something rather than take the time to write a good review. So I kinda see it as no bad reviews shows they may be a good solution.

Yes I would normally agree but this question has been asked repeatedly and there has simply been no input from anyone that has them

I am thinking about getting these as well, so I keep looking for feedback before dropping $600 on them. Out on the 1953 1954 1955 1956 Ford Trucks Facebook page somebody (Darcy Trefaneko) posted a glowing review on them. Below is a copy and paste of the post:

Darcy Trefanenko: I had a few thoughts on reverse tilt hood vrs original hood open way. I decided to buy the Eddie Motorsport hinges and try them out. I must say that I'm very happy with the function of these hinges. They work great and solved alot of the problems that the original hinges had. The Eddie Motorsport hinges pivot on bearings for smooth operation. Also the gas shocks push the hood open on it's own. The gas shocks also pull the hood down on the back corners when the hood is closed. They did a great job on designing these hinges, they look great too.

When my daughter was young and would be presented with a new food for dinner she would always ask, "do I like this?". As I would tell her, if I say "yes" then you'll think I am just tricking you into eating it. If I say "no" then you'll say that that is what you thought and that you didn't want to eat something new anyway. As I have recommended to all that have asked...buy a set and try them yourself, you have nothing to lose but a little time. These hinges come with a money back guarantee...if you try them and don't like them then return them and write up a negative report on them.
Members of Pickups Limited Orange County bought and tested them for EMS and to my knowledge no one has returned them to date. As for the ones I bought they are still sitting on the shelf waiting for my truck to find it's way back in the queue.

Anyone else buy and use these yet? I plan to take Charlie's idea of just buying them and seeing how they work. And if they suck returning them. But just can't believe that no one has actually put them to use yet!
