Rancho Shock Rebate Headache

So last month I purchased and installed 4 new Rancho 9000 series shocks on my 2015 F 250. I printed out the rebate form, filled it out, printed my receipt and delivery sheet and mailed it in. Today, much to my surprise, I receive a post card from Tenneco, denying my rebate because I did not send in the UPC codes from the boxes. The same boxes I threw away weeks ago.

I either didn't see the part where I needed to cut them out, misread where it said you only need to do this if purchases on line (which I did w/an Amazon gift card) or just totally missed it. I asked my wife, who checked it over and mailed it, and she did not remember seeing it either. I specifically remember highlighting the directions in yellow but I still messed it up.

I called Tenneco, thinking some common sense could fix this but I was wrong. I didn't call Rancho because it does not process the rebate. Guy at Tenneco said I was out of luck and continually suggested I get the UPC codes from the boxes. He didn't comprehend I threw them away I guess.

Has anyone else done this? What was the outcome? I plan on calling Rancho tomorrow to see they will help.

Any suggestions? I doubt Rancho will say anything other than they do do the rebates, call Tenneco.

What if you checked with a local 4x4 shop that does lifts and see if they have a set of boxes you could use the UPCs from? Just a thought...

I just got my rebate back form Tenneco. I made sure to read all the instructions for getting my rebate processed and mailing in the UPC codes from the boxes. I know this doesn't help you but Rancho does have a rep on this site so maybe he can chime in and see if anything else can be done. i don't know why they need those UPC codes when you have a receipt showing the shocks.

the UPC is kind of a given...

but I do not do mail-in rebates any more.. or the past few years...

to many rules,, way to easy for them to deny rebate.. to difficult to appeal.

Pennzoil ($25), HP ($100)... and a few others... denied me for some real dumb reasons. real small print...

I either pay the REAL Price. or look at a different BRAND.

I VIEW mail-in rebates as a Legal SCAM....

I will call Rancho today and ask. Hopefully they will help me fix my mistake. They need the UPC off the box so they know more than one person can't use them and they were installed.

So I don't know this until I did some searching. Tenneco owns Rancho and some other shock companies. I called Rancho and couldn't get a customer service person on the phone. I sent them a request through the website. I will try and find the rep on here for help. $100 is a lot to miss out on.

Rancho refuses to help me out. Advised me to check shops or ask on a forum for someone who has UPC codes from boxes to send in.

Their process was a pain in my *ss. They were not happy with the way my receipt was filled out. Original said qty 2 for the front and same for the back. instead of qty 1 and fill in manufacture code 2 times. Says the same thing.

They do ask for the UPS which is dumb. What if it gets lost in the mail. Why doesn't the receipt with your name on it count for everything?

Problem I could conceive with that might be you go and buy the shocks and then return them. Most likely the reason is that someone has done that before. I prefer to scan a copy of my upc labels just in case something happens. Bit of a pain in the ***.

Call it a $100 learning experience. It sucks but it was in the print, attention to detail.

Who did you buy them from? Call their customer service dept. And let them go to bat for you.....they may even kick you back the hundred just to keep a happy customer. That's where I would start.

It was through Amazon so I would have to look it up. Not sure they would be willing to cut UPC's from a box. It's my screw up but still frustrating.
