55 F100 Engine swap

Good morning all from a new member.

I am installing a 79-351w into my F100 project. Any recommendation on headers that won't have any clearance problems. C4 tranny, mini starter, 2" lower on front, otherwise stock everything else including steering. Using an off the shelf motor mount conversion kit from Speedway. Thanks for any advice.

Rick

I have a set of headers you can have that may work for you. They came of my 68 302 so I think they should fit. They are block huggers from Sampson. They are in good shape and I just had to replace them as the collector on the driver side interfered with the new crossmember I put in for the suspension.

Early model Mustang headers usually are a good fit. They don't have to be 351 headers, 289/302 will fit the block and heads just fine.

Hi...I just got my 55 Ford Truck ( call her Celesta). Truck still have the original motor, but I'm struggling to decide whether is it possible to make this original engine environmentally friendly, or I simply have to change it for the sake of being environmentally responsible.

I'd appreciate any recomendation

I don't know what you call "environmentally friendly" but your little truck will not affect the environment a whole lot! Now if we are talking about 5000 trucks being driven many miles everyday then it might have an impact. The beauty of these old Fords is the chance to live like we did in the 50's, with simplicity and practicality.

BTW, welcome to FTE, the best Ford truck forum on the world wide Web! You must show us pictures of your truck both inside outside sand under the hood.

Thanks Abe for the comment. What I mean is that old motors don't pass the Technical Inspections required to be allowed to drive here in Colombia because of the emissions. Here there's something called the "Technical.Mechanical" inspection that is a must for cars 5 years old and above. Off course I'd love to keep the original engine in case some maintenance or modifications would be enought to pass these tests, but I doubt that`s doable. That`s why I think having a newer motor would do for me. ...

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll post some pics of my lovely Celesta later!

Oh, I didn't realize you are from Colombia. Do they make exceptions for antique vehicles? They should. I suggest you start a new thread and introduce yourself and restate your predicament. Someone should be able to help your truck meet the Colombian standards. There are guys here that live in California and their truck pass their tough standards .
