Hello guys, I am almost ready to drop the 302 in my 61 f100 unibody, could someone please tell me what headers will work with this swap? looks like its gona be tight cause of the steering box.any help would be greatly appriciated..Thanks..Tom
has anyone ever used the patriot headers?they say they fit in tight places like old trucks?anyone know if they clear the steering box and the motor mounts on the 302?
Thanks..Tom
I cruised the swap meets picking up the "shorty" headers off of late model rigs till I found some that fit. The Ford number on the ones that fit on mine was F3TE-9429-KA. That is the number for the drvers side one. The passenger side had a late 80's Mustang #, but all the passenger side that I got are the same. You could run out and order some for a 93 truck, but beware, the aftermarket ones tend to have a bigger tube size. I am putting mine in a 61 F100 Unibody, 302 / AOD, homemade engine mounts, stock steering. Good Luck! Andy
I have a 1962 Unibody with a 351 in it. Hedmans fit, though tightly. One developing problem - I now have a cracked motor mount, and because of the close tolerances, the left header now taps the crossmember upon acceleration. Not that that's an issue when everything is in good shape - it just illustrates the tight fit.
ymurf,
Probably not the route you want to go but I didn't know about this awsome site during my build. Bought a set that was close, layed em on the bench and took a sawsall to the tubes that wouldn't clear. Got some mandril bent tubes from Summit and rerouted around stuff. Boy I wish I knew about you guys then! There's a shot of my frankinheaders in my pics. Good Luck
