Another timing question...1984 f150

Was starting to install my new distributor and noticed I only had 1 set of timing marks. As you can see from the pics. I do have a the little scribe line and notch on the balancer. So do I set TDC from the driver side marks then?

the factory distributor is still installed. if that helps i havent pulled it out yet. i did how ever pull the wires off. but i need to figure out a way to stab the new distributor. i can time it by ear. Also i will be installing a HEI Distributor.

Yes use your timing tab on the drivers side. I hope you marked #1 on your distributor cap. If the truck is still running you can mark the position of housing and the rotor before pulling out. If not you can start from scratch which is not a big deal.

Okay something I like to do is mark the mark on the balancer/pulley with a paint pen.
What makes the stabbing of the distributor annoying is the oil pump drive. You may have the distributor drop almost all the way where you want it but the oil pump drive will not line up. Pull your distributor out and stick something down there to move the drive a little and go from there..

The only part I'm really worried about is the positioning of the new distributor since the old one is tfi and the new one is hei with vacuum advance. Gonna head out and tackle the job in a few minutes.
