Im working on a 64 van with a 302 C4 swapped in. Ive searched the interwebs quite a bit looking for a solution for replacing the throttle rod with a Cable. Obviously the easiest solution is swapping in the cable setup from a 65 or newer model. Unfortunately i havent located anything but the cable itself. Now this project is in a time crunch (gotta be ready to tailgate for OU's first home game) so i convinced the owner to buy a 72" Lokar throttle cable. My problem comes from the throttle pedal linkage pushing instead of pulling. So I mocked up a bracket that would bolt to the bumper with 4 bolts. Im going to start cutting steel tonight and tomorrow. Let me know what you think, is it overkill?? I Hope!!
I had a similar problem with my 63 Econo pickup. I found a 6" flat pulley, cut it in half and bolted it to the underside of the floorboard between the gas pedal and the heater. That took care of reversing the cable direction without a large bracket. I also used a 72" Lokar cable.

Definitely alot simpler than what im doing. I like it. Im starting to think the arm on this throttle bar isnt factory. Oh well, in the morning im welding up this bracket i fabbed up. Its getting a couple small gussets on the end too.
do you know about "control cable" in santa fe springs ca? they'll make up what ever you want for not much money. they made my throttle cable/ TV cable set up on my van. they both come up behind the engine and mount to a bracket i made that bolts to the intake.
