I will begin tearing down my zf6 to replace they input shaft were it's worn out in the pilot bearing and a broken shift fork for 3-4 gear. I need advice any where to get any special tools and hopefully someone can pm me that has done this if I have specific questions. I'm not a tranny guy but I'm willing to make mistakes and spend the money to learn. Any advice is much appreciated.

 

The go to for parts and advice for years on the ZF-6 has been Dan at Midwest transmission. He could probably help source the tools as well.

 

Was very helpful with the parts but as for the tools just said he got them back in 99 and could tell me where or part numbers

 

Any updated on this? I'm looking at either doing my ZF6 myself or paying someone to do it. I'm leaning on paying someone as I don't have the tools and although I would love to buy them its almost as much from what I've seen to just have a shop do it.

If you're wondering I've lost 5th (6th) gear.. I can shift into it but sounds like to gears coming together going opposing directions.
