Being a MT history buff, I wanted to stop and check out the ghost town of Bannack. It was Montana's first gold strike boomtown in 1862 and the territorial capital. Now a state park and thankfully being preserved.......well worth visiting.
I probably added 100 miles or more to my trip wandering around but well worth it.
One last pic from day 1....parked next to the Madison river not far from Bozeman
Went to a nice car show at the nearby farm town of Manhattan, MT. Nice small town atmosphere......very laid back. Only about 80 cars, but some nice stuff. I even won a trophy. Here's a few rides I liked.
The trip home was pretty boring......and HOT!!!
The old flathead ran pretty good for the whole trip, but it didn't like the high elevations too much, being tuned for much lower ones.
Total miles, around 800
Great pics and commentary - thanks for sharing. I'm with Ross, the old iron stashed in unlikely places is astounding. Glad they get dusted off and displayed on occasion.
