Saturn electric power steering in a Slick?

Has anyone done this successfully? I'd like to give it a try at that price.
$100 Power Steering? Yes you can. Use Column Electric Power Assist System (EPAS) ! - Page 2 - Ford Muscle Forums : Ford Muscle Cars Tech Forum

Sounds like a reasonable option that I would like to hear more about. Here is another write up about it: Best $200 mod ever (EPS). - Page 7 - Vintage Mustang Forums

I think I'll buy one to compare it to the available space. I will report.

I picked up a Saturn EPAS unit for a possible swap, but I will have to wait for down time in the winter to attempt it. Looking forward to your reports and updates 6t6merc.

I have a complete setup along with a pair of adjustable control modules you can buy from a guy in the Ukraine (or some such place - Mustang owner purchased them). Was going to install it into a '69 Mustang I was building. With all that was under that dash and the narrow space between the dash and firewall, it was deemed a bit too much work compared to just adding a Borgeson unit, which was the direction we went. So I inherited the pile.

My plans are to put it into my '63 Ranchero... someday. A lot more room under its dash. My '66 F100 already has power steering.

You'll have to do a lot of "joint fusion" to get double-d's onto it and then to get the correct steering wheel shaft applied, but probably won't be too hard.

Edit... My bad... Portugal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Saturn-Vue-I...lRcSCy&vxp=mtr

I bought the unit and am noodling it over. Can anyone tell me the diameter and spline count of the Saturn shafts?

It appears there is no room under the dash, at least when there is a clutch pedal there, but there is just enough shaft under the hood that could be removed and replaced with the motor. The inner fender will have to be cut for clearance though. I'm a little behind because the '06 motor I bought turned out to be a '09 which will not work with the aftermarket controller, and the replacement I got is water damaged and NFG. I'm getting pretty good at removing these things now.
Incidentally, the "15 minute removal" estimate in the video is wildly optimistic especially if you don't carry the 7mm nutdriver required to get the dash apart.

Eric,
I would be willing to send you the unit I have if you wish free of charge in order to help you progress on this install. I have decided not to proceed with this modification at this time.

Your offer is very kind, Jim, but the auto wrecker still owes me one that I've paid for. He says he's got a Pontiac Torrent coming in soon, and I'm in no rush. Thanks all the same, man.

Hey, did you ever get this done? I have a steering control from an 05 Saturn Vue. It looks like the shaft on both ends are 18mm 23 spline. Looking for couplers to weld to my existing shaft.

It will not fit in a '65-'66 (coil-spring) slick.
