Steering Problems after lift.

Hey all,

I bought a leaf pack off amazon from tuff country for my truck, its like add a leaf but its on steroids with 4 new leafs. After researching and asking the forums here I realized that adding the whole pack would cost a whole lot more money(drop axle pivot brackets) than I thought so I decided to add only two of the leaves. I have gained approximately 2.5inches of lift from the two leaves and to my pleasure it has nearly matched my rear. (My rear still stands about an inch higher), but now the car is undrivable. There is a got awful scraping sound coming from the driver side, there is an insane hard pull to the left whenever I let my hands off the wheel, and the tires are completely out of alignment. Now I realize an alignment is now necessary and it would be great if an alignment would fix all my issues but I got a bad feeling like something else needs to be added.

Before I end the thread my truck is a 95 f250 460 4x4 with 33' KO1s that are 12.5 in width. I am unaware what the previous owner did but he left the rear almost 4 inches higher than the front and I figured it was an easy fix. Im also 17 and my current job really isnt great paying so cheaper is better.

"Cheaper is better"? That might be true with dating women, but I'm not sure it applies to modifying trucks.

Anything more than about 2" requires drop brackets and alignment at minimum. Easiest in my opinion would be a return to stock height. Pick and pull parts, not to mention they sit at decent height anyways. Each to their own, that's just my liking.

I have a '97 F250 4X4 460 that sits just about level and it's dead stock. That would mean your truck came with a lift in the rear that was done by a PO.

first off, You should have a Twin Traction Beam front end. Any change over stock requires an alignment due to the TTB geometry. What alarms me is this scraping sound and a pull to the left. Something is not right with that side so I would get under it and look, then lift that tire off the ground and turn it by hand. Whatever is scraping will be obvious.

Just to help us help you, what part number spring kit did you order?

Thats a good idea, I turned both tires very slowly after each leaf install and heard no noise/felt no grinding, I probably have to go back under and turn a little quicker.

It was tuff country's 82201 leaf pack off amazon. It sounded like a good cheap alternative to assist my somewhat sagging springs instead of a whole new leaf pack, keep in mind the part comes with 5 new leafs/plates, I only used the top longest two.

I was looking at those brackets and thought they would become my quick fix, how exactly do you know how I can go about installing the brackets? It looked like there was just 3 bolts for the passenger side and 4 bolts for the driver side. Also, the primary reason I am lifting the damn thing is because I think the previous guy did half a job before he handed it off to me.

even if you add the center drop brackets, you will still have to get the front end realigned.
you problem rite now is the caster, camber, and toe are way out.
