Manual pedals with auto?

I am bout ready to do my e4 to zf swap and want to progress into it while I'm still gathering a few parts..

Will the zf5 pedals work with the auto transmission until I replace it?
I don't see why not as the clutch will just not have a function

Reason I want to do this early is because I've been told it's one of the hardest and tedious things to do during the swap (swapping pedals) and if I can get it done even before I get the new tranny in I'll be happy and feel ahead of the game.
You might think I'm crazy but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask lol

Thanks all again for the help!

not speaking from having done it myself .. i would have to agree , cant see any reason why they wouldn't work just fine ..

the master still gets a pedal and pushrod and the motor still gets a throttle cable so i think it should be alright .. good idea to space it out and have more beer drinking time when the time comes for the big kahuna

the trans does not care what pedal assembly is in the truck.
the old parts runner at the body shop had an auto trans with manual pedal assembly in it for 13 years.
clutch down on the floor to start. if you wanted to use cruise control toe the clutch pedal all the way up.

You will have interference with the pedal assembly and the big aluminum support under the dash (if equipped, I think that started in 87 though). It's easy to clearance for the space needed.
I had an 84 F250 I went the opposite way with, replaced a completely worn out NP435 with a fresh C6, but left the pedal assembly. I also made a floor shifter out of the old 4speed one, it was good for messing with people.

Just did this put the pedals in a couple of days before swapping the tranny in. No issues. I had no clearance issues. I loosened the dash mount and parking brake mount. Just lowered the steering column took the 4 nuts holding the pedal bracket to the fire wall. Pulled brake booster forward maybe an inch. Took the bolts out hold the bracket to the dash. Pulled the bottom of the dash forward. Then barrel rolled it out to the left. Put the standard pedals in just the reversed process. No big deal.

Sweet. Hopefully I don't run into too many problems. as I've said I've been told that this is one of the most annoying things about the swap that everything else is pretty straight forward but the pedals are a pain in the neck aside from bleeding the clutch.

Ok, it might just be the later trucks. One of my co-workers did a conversion on a 97 PSD F350 and I heard him going on and on about how stuff was all in the way. Could have been an installer issue too though.

Remove dazhinstrument bezel trims
Remove instrument cluster ...speedo cable is hoo ha to do carful of PRNDL cable for indicator!

Remove steering column cometely from truck.

Unclip brake pushrod

Remove 4 bolts holding booster

Remove 11 mm bolt iirc holding pedal assembly up to dash...

Remove pedal assembly

InstLlation is reverse...
