Quality control is no better or worse than other RVs, but you bring up a good point. When I used to talk with RV owners as a group there were often comments about having no problems, but when I talked with those same folks individually their story often changed.

Montanas have always been popular and I have worked on dozens of them. Don't "put the worry wagon in front of the horse". Yours may be fine.

Lots of folks take a prospective truck to a trusted mechanic to have it checked out prior to purchase. Cost is minimal. Might not be a bad idea to bring a knowledgeable fella along before acceptance for these too? I wouldn't really know what to look for. There are folks that do.

I have done that at times and continue to do it from time to time, but it is really hard to find the serious corner cutting on new units. A lot of stuff will not show up for a few weeks.

Steve, you are correct about it being fine. That was the pessimist in me talking. The side skirts are a common problem from what I understand and only takes an hour or so to repair both sides. I'm sure you know it has to do with their stapling technique. As far as the flexing in the side wall, I've heard from a friend that works for XLR and says it all could be just an improperly tightened wall to frame anchor. The other possibility as you know is a broken weld. Either way the camper can be repaired and all will be fine once it's done. I'm just frustrated at the fact that we are probably going to lose two of our next trips that have been booked for over a year. Our week long camping trips are a rarity with both of our work schedules and our son's school year.
The only way I got FR to do the right thing was threaten an outside party. I would not do that with Montana as I would give them every chance to do the right thing, but I would expect it to be done in a reasonable time. Not months as I was initially told yesterday.
Thank you for responding. I truly value your opinion. And you are correct. Even here, the parks are getting more and more difficult to get into. And some have even gone private to allow year-round living which cuts more into decent campgrounds.

When I was trying to figure out why my back wall was delamining on my Keystone product I found they had shorted the rubber on the roof so it did not extend all the way over the edge of the back wall. Covered it with caulk so you couldn't tell it without removing the caulk. Just another example of the industry. I'll fix it, but it is a nuisance for sure.

I just got off of the phone with the factory rep. Very positive conversation in which he asked me to describe what has happened as his firewall at the office, in his department, will not let him view my email due to the video. I explained where the movement is, how is moves and what the service manager had said. He then asked me had Lippert responded to which I said, "No!" He asked me for the VIN and the best number to get back to me as he was going to forward this to Steve(at Montana's Customer Service) and he said to expect a call in a few hours and at most a couple of days. Brian said, "There was a reason you bought a Montana and we are about to show you why." He said this should be resolved in a matter of days, not weeks. I'll admit I was impressed with his initiative, but now to see if the rest of the company follows through.

Monty,

Did you email into Lippert customer service? For me they have one of the most consistent and fastest response rates in the industry. I normally hear back from them the next morning after I email? You should have received a robotic acknowledgment telling you they had your email almost immediately.

Yes Steve, I did email them and was sent a response saying someone would be in contact with me within two business days. The factory rep said that Montana would get in contact with them as well if they think it is the frame, or would go a different route if it is the wall anchor.

I can't speak for Lippert, but if their pattern is consistent, they will get a back to you. You can also send pictures to Lippert and I have done that often. Their system will not strip them out of the email. I don't know about videos.

I heard from the Keystone/Montana Owner Relations department that was asking a 1002 questions, even what truck and hitch I used! Anyway, just doing their job. I did send Lippert the video, or at least the link to it. KM couldn't open it because it was YouTube related. So I reduced the size and emailed it to them. She said I would hear back from them tomorrow after their frame specialist reviewed the video. The rep did say there was a possibility it would be repaired at home. I'll let you know. At least, it looks like they are on it!

Monty, this is good news. I know it is very frustrating having paid all of that money for something you really wanted and were very proud of to have it turn out with a seemingly major flaw. I think Keystone will make it right and it appears it will be sooner rather than later. Anything made by humans can have a flaw in it no matter what sort of prep or planning goes into it.

Keep us up to date as many of us following this thread. I currently have a Springdale travel trailer and am planning to upgrade to a Montana High Country this fall. We have nothing but good things to say about Keystone so far and hope my opinion of them continues.

Im a new Montana owner. Haven't had any major issues yet and I hope not to have any issue like yours. I'd like to know the resolution of this once it all gets sorted out. I hope it all works out for the best for you!

I have to say that this is not a good development and hope all gets fixed well. We have a '14 Montana High Country as we couldn't find a 'regular' Montana or similar with the layout we wanted at our dollar figure. So far, have had virtually no problems in 12-15,000 miles. Yeah, China Bomb tires, a slow running black tank - a glitch here and there but other then that, it's been a pretty good 5er.
