I would like to know what tube codes were especially if they've been there that long and now there gone. More of a curiosity thing.

Hey thanks

I firmly believe that cross has kept my X on four wheels and shiny side up, I don't exactly drive it like a lifted SUV nor like a saint.

Soooo, I could have sworn I updated you guys about the SES. I can't find my post so I'll do it again.

Today I was headed out to the smog place to have my Ex smogged because I had traveled over 50 but not 100 miles and the check engine light had not come back on. Of course, the minute I turned the corner, on it came. So when I got to the smog place he plugged in the code reader and it said P1396 Glow Plug Module Fault.

So what now? I don't believe my Ex is a California model but I have yet to do a visual to determine whether I have a Relay or a Module, as I understand we have one or the other. Is this a magical mystery tour type thing?

Sorry auto correct. That was suppose to be the codes.

As far as whether if you have a relay or module, I believe all excursions came with a glow plug control module regardless if they were a California emissions or not.

No such thing as a California model for 7.3L powered Excursions, they are all the same, unlike the F-series truck which does have a California emissions compliant model.

All 7.3L powered Excursions came with a GPCM, which that code is indicating you need to replace.

It's easily done, and it's located here:

Since you're in SoCal and probably don't wanna wait for shipping, run over to Sunrise Ford in Fontana and grab one for $132.50, which is about the same discounted price you'd find at Tousely.

Part No. YC3Z12B533AA

Order Parts - Sunrise Ford Fontana

Fontana? No way. That's in BFE. I think I'll just do the online thing and get it for $94. But thank you Stewart_H!

I just looked. I didn't realize how far away Fontana was from Anaheim.

Where are you finding it for $94 bucks? Is it OEM or aftermarket?

I never even thought about ebay. I haven't used that site in years since I got Amazon Prime.
