460 drag build

What's is the best set up for a drag build for a 1973 f250 I was looking to put a eldelbrock PERFORMER 460 (IDLE-5500 RPM) intake, 750 CFM edelbrock carb, headers, and 150 shot of nitrous. I need help on which cam I should get that would be best for my build? Which rods and piston should I go with?

all that stuff is just fine, any lunati cam is good, they give you a wide variety to choose from, just go to there website, would try to stay away from comp for a variety of reasons, 460 stock rods are definitely strong enough for almost any build, unless they are in bad shape save your money, for pistons, keith black makes good flat top pistons giving you alot more compression and boring it out .60 over putting the bore to a 4.420 inch giving you a 472, you would have yourself a good build right there,if you're running nitrous i would get the forged ones. you can check out that stuff on summitracing.com, if you got money to spend build a stroker, and there ya go, hope you have fun with the build

Thanks for the reply I would definitely be going what that brand. But could you help out on which cam I should select I was looking at the voodoo hydraulic roller. Would that be a good cam for my set up?

Yes, the voodoo is a good cam for you setup, you would just have to choose on how much lift and duration you want, bracket master is also a good cam by lunati, would check it out

Spend time studying the cc specs on the heads and then select pistons that give you decent compression. It's a little bit of a pain doing this but if you're going to do it you might as well get a good combination. Summit has a compression calculator on it's site.

If you're going for a drag setup I wouldn't use the performer intake, it's more oriented towards low end torque and not upper end HP. Maybe a performer RPM manifold or a Victor, match the RPM range of the manifold, cam and rear gearing to get what you want.

I'm gonna get a stock 460 with c9 heads. What do you think the compression ratio is on that motor?

10:1 or 10.5:1. Open those ports up and get a CJ intake and match the intake ports to the manifold. Flows better. Next get good headers.

The stock rods will break beyond 6500 rpm. And I would be conservative with all that nitrous because the rods are fairly weak from the factory. But if you're set on those, get ARP bolts for the rods and mains. Roller rockers, 3/8" pushrods, and stiffer valvesprings would also be good ideas.
