I do not have any check engine or any other indicator lamps. My brother has a dtc tool and there is not any codes when this happens.

That doesn't sound likely. Over the course of years, there are always at least stray codes in there. Many DTC tools are not compatible with our antiquated J1850 PWM protocol.

I know were throwing days until OP can post up some numbers but could it be fuel related? OP, you have fuel pressure gauge? FP can't be monitored by the obd either so a quick plumb of some fittings and fuel line at filter bowl, can obtain a reading

I would imagine it's not fuel related. That wouldn't make sense to me anyway. He has fuel then let's off and the pump stops or it doesn't have enough pressure. I've been wrong before but a fuel pump is making the most amount of psi at idle or on deceleration. For the engine to die because of too much fuel is well backward... but that's just me and if I'm wrong it wouldn't be anything new

So I have the scan software and the cable. I have been through the software and there are some codes but it states that they could be old so I will reset everything then drive it around and see what happens.
I could use some help in knowing what to look at, I know that I will monitor the IPR and ICP but what else would be good to look. Aslo any help in knowing how to use the software would also be greatly appreciated.
More info: it is starting to die more often and getting really hard to restart. It has also been hard to start it after it has been shut down for a long time. I did get a code on the last hard start which stated something about a long crank problem.
Thanks

Was it a P1212 code for low ICP while cranking?

You'll want to monitor and log ICP PSI, ICP Volts, IPR duty cycle, fuel injection pulse width, engine oil temp and RPM. If you can catch it when it has the symptoms, that would obviously be best.

I too have an 02 that recently started some unique issues. I won't take over your thread as I have started my own, but the 2002's are something unique as I've read stories like this across the InterWeb.

For this issue, the IPR was always the suspect. Sorry that wasn't your issue. I'll keep watching this thread in hopes a resolution for you might shine light on my issue. Good luck!

How can I get you the files from the scan tool graph?
Thanks

You need to clear that mess and get fresh information. Over the years, a lot of "ghost" DTCs take up residence in your PCM, and they need to be exorcised before you can find the living codes.

What am I doing wrong?
I thought that I was clearing the DTC logs but the cel stays on now where before it would go out and the codes are still in the DTC file. I am trying to clear it with forscan software in the DTC section and I click on the clear log button.
What else do I need to do?
Thanks

The Clear Log button just clears the codes from the window. Click the DTC button with the yellow triangle on the left side of the window, then the Reset DTC button at the bottom to clear the codes from the PCM.

When should the IPR start to go up in %. At idle the IPR is 4.69% and the ICP is 506.5 psi. The IPR is 6.25% and the ICP is at 577.3 at 1313 rpm. What if anything does this mean?
Thanks
