351w mass air conversion

I know theres a thousand posts and tons of info on this but nothing on this topic, i am converting because i have a SD setup and am doings heads, intake, exhaust, and want a bigger cam than sd allows and prefer to make more power. I aquired a A9S mustang mass air computer and a conversion harness with the mass air connector built right in, this harness plugs inbetween the mainnharness and the computer and is suppose to be plug and play. Idk if anyone has ever used one of these but i know theyre pretty rare and there isnt too many around and pretty sought after. Hoping someone can give me insight on if i can use this in my 96 f350 351w 5.8 manual trans, any info is appreciated and if i can use it will i still need to repin the connectors for the switch

Part number for connector

Really need some advice here

Can someone please tell me why the 86-88 mustangs are so easily converted to mass air by only adding a maf sensor the the ecu pins( asside from optional vss circuit) they are bank fired speed density as well right? Im having trouble understanding why all of us switch entire harnesses and splice in layover harnesses when i have this plug and play connector thats made to jump in the maf sensor, add a mass air meter, the intake tubing, eec-iv and done. Please helpe me understand whats so different and why we need extra wiring changes, if we do

The Mustangs used sequential fuel injection in the high output engines starting 1986 and on. So if you wanted to convert one of the early EFI engines from SD to MAF, it is just a matter of splicing in a MAF harness and change a couple of pins on the ECU connector.

Trucks got SEFI later, so if you want to use a HO Mustang's ECU in your tuck with bank fired EFI, you will need to change at least the part of the harness going to the fuel injectors.

Okay thank you for clearing that up I did not know the early efi mustangs had a sequential firing order, is there no chance that my 96 f350 351w has sefi? If there is no chance that it has sefi, can you point me toward the info, thread, or forum that shows how to change that portion of the injector harness. do they make something that clicks into the existing injector harness or will it have to be completely wired seperately all the way to ecu and pinned manually, and assuming I got that accomplished I should be able to still use the maf conversion harness I have to accomplish getting maf signal to ecu right

You have an overlay harness right.. that should have the sequential injection wiring in it already.

No I did not have an overlay harness I have a conversion harness that plugs into the SD harness with a mass airflow sensor coming off of it and then that piggy backs into the new ecu so it looks like I still need to get the sequential firing injector harness into the truck can you guys point me in the right direction as far as if it's simple enough to splice into my existing harness or where to buy a decently priced layover harness nowadays

Can you post a pic of the overlay harness connector?

The MAF conversion kit that Ford made for these trucks used the same type of connector so it's possible you could splice in wires for the injectors there.

The only harness I have is the one from the picture in my original lost, it just has the mass air flow connector coming out of the connector that piggyback into the eeciv

OH.. I didn't see the piggyback connector in the pic before but now I see it.

It may be easier to patch injectors and the MAF into the existing truck harness, there are several other devices that need to be moved to other pins as well so that Mustang conversion harness won't do you much good. To do this you would have to source a wiring harness from a MAF truck or buy an aftermarket harness with pigtails and insert those into the correct positions in the trucks PCM connector. That connector comes apart so moving and inserting new pins isn't that hard.
