Total Solar Eclipse 2017 - Path Through the United States



I'm reminded of this verse in the song by Carly Simon:

Still, it would be cool to take a 600 mile drive up there to watch it. All 2 minutes of it.

 

But it's only a short poker run from Sturgis and nearly the same time frame. Talk about yer twofer!

Yeah, and possibly I will do just that, by going to Sturgis AFTER the rally and stopping in Alliance at Carhenge for this event...well it's more than a year away so plenty of time to make plans!

My van is setup for sleeping so I wouldn't have to make any reservations and pay ridiculous room rates in a town that may very well end up cloud-covered on the day of....I could plan my stop based on where any cloud cover will not be within a large geographical area.

I have seen a few solar eclipses in my years but not a full eclipse in this half of my life...time to claim one more I suppose!
