Question Questions about my mods and upgrades

I've been pretty busy since my first post about a month ago and with a lot work I've got a lot done so here they are and I'll ask questions after
1. Dana 60 swap
2. Rough country 4" front lift and 2" back lift
3. 17" ultra aluminum rim with 315 a/t tires ( all of these look freakin awesome)
4. 3 pillar pod with auto meter trans/boost/egt
5. Php hydra chip from tony wildman-high idle,daily,tow,heavy tow street and extreme
6. Exhaust- 3" down pipe and riff raff up pipes
7. Turbo- 1.0 exhaust housing and riff raff billet wheel
8. Riff raff intake boot and y boots and riff raff 6637 intake
9. 17 degree hpop
10. Hpx cross over
11. Stage 1's done by rosewood diesel (excellent service)
12. Fpr shim - at idle went from 60 psi - 70 psi
13. 6.0 trans cooler

The truck sounds awesome builds quick boost 30+pounds but egts 1300+ So I just stay out of it and it's fine.
Unfortunately I did not get trans temp till after upgrades so I have no prior data but trans temp was getting 240 degrees F.at idle and easily above 250 driving so I put 6.0 cooler in and truck idles at 200-210 but getting 250 driving still.
The truck has good response 1-2 gear but here is where I'm really worried and just want to cry is when it goes to 3rd it starts to shudder and blow black smoke untill it builds boost then goes to overdrive and shudders and black smoke and I know these two shifts is where all the heat is being made in the tranny. The tranny did have shudders before but seem to be more pronounced if that makes sense. With all this work I'm pretty discouraged and just want to quit.
I would like to know what you guys think any advice will be greatly appreciated. I have relied on this form for the past month and think ford trucks and this form especially 94.5-97 part is what America is all about. Just when I start to think America isn't so great I have found great Americans. Thanks so much!!!!
One more questions the mechanics at my work put trans synd in e4od and 4r100, Is this a safe practice?

I can't answer your question but it does sound like the trans is going out or program issues, What I do know is once we start building stuff to do more than designed we will keep finding the weak spots and or flaws. it sucks and cost lots of money but if we over build the weak points and keep on it , one day it will not be an issue and it will all be fun times.

With my 6.0 trans cooler I'm running 170-180° without a thermostat installed in the trans line. I have found that these are restrictions and are junk. I pull what you see in my signature.

Well first off nice work man. That is a handful to do all in a month, and also a very expensive month. Nice work!

Regarding the trans temps, something is not right at all.... I have never seen a transmission reach 200 degrees at idle in park, let alone 240 driving around town with a 6.0 cooler. Typically 200 degrees is common with a 6.0 cooler working it hard and pulling steep long passes if there is 12-15000 lbs behind the truck. Not unloaded though.... If the tranny is salvageable I would get it into a good trans shop and get a scanner on it to see what the heck is going on to generate temperatures that high, as well as the shudder. Either way I'd starting saving money for a trans at some point. A billet converter and steel planetary is a must vs the aluminum planetary.

Second question, did you run your trans lines through the radiator or bypass the radiator?

Third, can you verify its truly getting this hot? Could the gauge be off? Its just hard to comprehend the 200 at idle. To me it sounds like there is a blockage an you are not getting any flow to cooling at all.

Might be worth dropping the pan and looking at the pickup filter too. Did you fully flush when you did the swap?

Best of luck, keep up the good work and don't quit now, you are too deep into it with time and money, unfortunately the 7.3 is an expensive 20 year old platform....

FYI i think your fuel pressure is a tad hi, but I do not have much experience with hi fuel pressure hurting anything. The stock turbo even with a billet wheel will not sufficiently cool stage 1s if towing hard. (Trust me I tried everything, ported, bigger exhaust housing, billet wheel and a 6.0 IC wouldn't do it when towing heavy, water injection bandaided the problem till I went to a larger charger) You'll just have to drive by the pyro or turn the chip back a bit.

Old bird where is your temp gauge? Mine is in pressure port
I verified fluid flow by discounting return line going into trans and it was good.
Took a temp reading with my wife's candy thermometer (don't tell her) there 95degrees.
Took one on output line-120 degrees
Took sample from pan it was 105 degrees
Gauge said 230 lol.
And yes it still goes trough radiator.

As far as shudder goes could it be torque converter ?
I have a parts truck with a good tranny but is 2 wheel drive,it has new tranny and torque converter. I know tranny won't work but will the tc?

As far as fuel and air. I have a 2002 ic and tubes wth pleniums and the turbo. would this help? I still have 1.15 housing. Zfreakify mod? I think it's called

One other mod I did was the DIY EBV gut. ��

I have a scan gauge (aeroforce) to read my trans temp. I'm going to tell your wife! LOL Anyway, I think the TC's can be interchanged. Now I know nothing about the 2 wheel vs 4 wheel trans but I think I've read the tail housing can be switched but someone will chime in.

Weel I though I would finish this thread. Truck ls running really Good and I'm way excited with the power it has. I found a air leak coming from turbo and fuel leak an got them TIGHT AND WOW THANKS. I'M
