Wheeler Dealers F1

Hey guys, don't know how many of you watch wheeler dealers on the velocity channel but I caught the last few minutes of the show the other night on an F1 they redid.

Found the episode on YouTube if anybody wants to watch

If link does not work search "wheeler dealers s12e02" in YouTube.

He got that truck for $4,500. A running, driving, stopping, almost rust free truck.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing.

What a great find! That's almost my truck, similar condition generally. I can't wait to see the rest of the video to see my road ahead.

I saw that episode. I have to wonder if they left a few things out. For instance, it smoked pretty bad like it needed rings. "Supposedly" they just stuck heads on it and cleaned it up for resale. It looked spotless and ran great with no smoke at all after the "quick work" they did to it.

I still enjoyed the show.

I still have to wonder why anyone would want to pay top dollar for a vehicle that looks like it was just dragged out of barn yard.

Like any typical "reality" show, they make it look easy to quickly rebuild a vehicle, or house, and have someone waiting with a big wallet to buy it. The part about these shows that I find really tiring is the haggling. Same format every time, seller starts high, buyer low ***** and after a few back and forths they end up in the middle.

These shows are fun to watch in bits and pieces but I usually find them very irritating to watch.

The one golden rule that we've learnt here in the UK with Wheeler Dealers, is never to believe a thing you see. Most telling are the amount of vehicles listed on Ebay immediately after the sale, the amount of work not mentioned in the show, and the comedy figures they mention at the end. If the real figures were quoted, they'd look an even bigger pair of **** than they already do. Absolute tosh.

I watched with interest since that is what I am looking to do with the truck I am hunting for at this time. They just breezed over some important items like the size of the carb. I ran it back and forth and it looks like they used a 500 CFM unit which is a bit large for the flat head. Just my 2 cents.

Later!

Like many things on television, pretty women or heroes with all the answers, there's got to be a little willing suspension of disbelief. I like to look at pretty trucks ( and pretty women for that matter).

I'd prefer a bit more technical expertise ( even though I have little myself) and I would have liked to have seen it done up closer to a factory finish, nice and shiny, but I'll take all the info. And inspiration I can get.

I still enjoyed the show.
Their numbers at the end claim they spent $7000 or so on the engine so one could assume that included a some other parts like rings and checking the block?

It's been a while since I saw it but, thought they were just going heads and bolt on stuff and clean/paint. I got a quick glimpse and thought it had new looking bores and deck.

Anyway, I think they have to "do a show" so who knows what really goes on. I still enjoyed it. At least they don't add the DRAMA of the staff fighting like some shows do. I switch them off no matter what.

I watched that episode last year when it first ran. Overall it's a good show and entertaining. Now that their shop is in CA, maybe they will concentrate in more American made projects...

I sure don't see $7k into the engine unless they did a full rebuild. The bolt-ons they did total maybe $2k. Maybe that includes the trans? No mention of what distributor they used. No mention of crossmember work to fit the trans?! Vague mention of something new in the axle. Entertaining, but that's about all.

That visor he bought looks brand new. Is someone making those now?

The DRAMA garbage ruins other shows that I might watch otherwise. I think the Jerry Springer crowd needs to stay out of the car shows.
